The Private Life of a Leader

Class One

In this course Bishop Lance Johnson and Dr. Phillip Fields uses 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and other scriptures to discuss the biblical qualifications for ministry.  This scripture is not meant to be a ministry checklist, but what it means to have spiritual maturity. How we handle conflicts that arise reveals our level of spiritual maturity.  A covenant looks for solutions, not a way out.  Leaders will have storms in life, but it is the response to the storms that qualifies or disqualifies.  How we handle our private conflicts reveal show we will handle the ministry.  We must continue to be led by the Spirit in the midst of conflict and issues that maybe beyond our control.  What does the phrase “apt to teach” really mean?  What qualifications should we look for in a mentor?  Spiritually mature and giftedness are not the same thing. Mastering things over time, through discipline, proves maturity. Never stop learning or being teachable.
